Some Points of Interest From the Pastor

PARISH OFFICE STATUS REPORT

Over what was supposed to be a quiet August, it was determined that the repairs needed for the safe, continued use of the former Rectory, now Parish Office, were more involved than originally planned. The extent of the work needed necessitated the more in -depth review and approval of the agencies of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Currently, the project is being sent out for bids from various contractors, so that in addition to earlier bids I received, the project will continue with the extra necessary Diocesan approvals. Unfortunately, these approvals extend the amount of time for the work to begin and, ultimately, the return of the building to its active use. Mid-September, I will finally get the opportunity to briefly explain the financial situation at Saint Augustine - Saint Francis Xavier, which, as I know many are aware, has been impacted by these repairs required for the safe use of the buildings entrusted to us over 100 years ago.

PARISH MEETINGS

As I wrote last weekend, until the aforementioned work is complete, space for Parish Meetings is limited. As we anticipate the spaces available, a buildings-use policy that ensures that Safe Environment mandates are met while ensuring we meet our budgetary requirements will be forthcoming. Since there are concerns about using the Parish Office—hours will be posted for in-person visits to the Faith Formation Office (Meditation Garden Entrance), which will also serve as the Parish Office. Phone calls can still be made during business hours. I appreciate your patience as we move forward.

FAITH FORMATION PROGRAM

Thank you to all those who have been considering assisting with the programs offered through the Faith Formation Office. I am grateful for those who have responded with their limited time—volunteers of all sorts are still needed! Please note that safety protocols for adults & children will be followed & training will be provided. Have no fear!

With Gratitude,
