The Baptism Christ, Guido Reni, c.1623
On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open
and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:10-11

While the Mass is our main way of coming together to pray, there are other opportunities for us to do so. Parishioners from St. Charles Borromeo and St Augustine-St Francis Xavier come together via Zoom to pray the Rosary and Vespers several times a week. Vespers, also known as Evening Prayer, is one of the hours in the Divine Office; it gives thanks for the day just past and offers an evening sacrifice of praise to God. Please consider joining us!
No materials are needed, as the prayers are all shared on screen.
The Zoom credentials are as follows:
The mission of the Young Professionals group is "Imparting God's love to one another, our parish, and our community through faith and action". In keeping with our mission, we meet monthly to support one another and discuss a wide range of topics of interest for the modern day young professional in the context of our faith. Recent discussions have been about Mother Mary, racial injustice, and Catholic art. To serve our parishes and the community beyond, we meet on a project/event basis, to volunteer our time and/or resources to communities in need. We are currently working with Heartshare St. Vincent's to volunteer our time and resources for children in foster care.
The first meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, Jan 12, at 7pm EST on Zoom (details below). We will set intentions and pray together to start off our year on the right foot. Friends from St. Augustine-St. Francis Xavier, we hope you can join us too!

Despite the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in NYC, Catholic Migration Services is still providing assistance to low income immigrants and individuals through our free legal immigration, housing and workers’ rights services. For more information you can visit their website at: www.catholicmigration.org
We have helped people with many issues such as paying rent, finding an apartment, legal matters, applications for assistance, funeral costs, and, of course, the annual Christmas Giving Tree. The distribution of food to those who need it is probably the most visible function to parishioners, as they generously provide donations of food to the pantry. Should you be in need of any assistance, our walk-in hours are Wednesdays, from 1-3PM. You enter through the gate on Carroll Street at the back of the church building. You can also call the Parish Office at (718) 638-1880.
While several of our ministries have been curtailed due to the threat of COVID, some are up and running and could always use some help.
Welcome to Paul Xavier, the newest member of our parish family, who was recently baptized. Please keep him and his family in your prayers as he begins his journey of faith.
