St. Augustine

The committee has as its goal the enhancement of St. Augustine’s liturgical environment. Each liturgical season our members read up on environmental decorating studies prepared by liturgy experts, and attempt to apply various principles to the particular architecture of our church. We hope that our efforts not only add beauty to the church but also create an environment that brings the message of the gospel not just to our ears but also to all of our senses.

The committee plans, selects, arranges, and schedules for the various liturgical celebrations. While some floral arrangements are purchased, the committee assembles most of the flowers and decorations. This enables St. Augustine’s to purchase the loveliest flowers that are appropriate for the liturgy and to avoid the significant labor charges of professional florists who may not understand our liturgical purposes.

St. Francis Xavier

Our volunteer members devote their efforts to enriching the parish community's experience of its worship of God through the liturgy. We assist the pastor and other liturgical ministers in the planning and organization of special liturgies and events.

Also, our focus is very much on the environment, both spiritual and physical, that surrounds the liturgy. From fence signs to bulletin announcements to church decor, all are within the reach of the Liturgy Committee. For instance, the prayer vessel near the tabernacle altar that contains the private petitions of the faithful is a fruit of the liturgy committee.

We also have the great joy of decorating the church for all the major church holidays. If your talents include organization and planning skills, creative writing, artistic flair and design, the Liturgy Committee could use your help. The committee meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Rectory. We welcome fresh faces and new ideas.
